Saving Taxpayer's Money

The University of Illinois' Illinois Sustainable Technology Center (ISTC) ash conducted an energy assessment study on the village Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP).  The recommendations from the study included, LED light installation, various sensor installment, smart thermostat installation and water source hear pump installation.  The implementation of the recommendations will save the village $3,145, 8% reduction in electrical cost and 51% reduction in gas consumption.

Mayor Joe Behnken stated that an effective rate of return on the costs of the recommendations will be computed, however, he was confident that it would be substantial.  The mayor stated he was grateful to Amy Benwell, Village Clerk and Chris Remick, Public c Works Superintendent for spearheading and coordinating this study, they are great public servants.
