Elected Village Trustees take the Oath

Monday, May 1st, 2023, three Village Board Trustees was sworn in at the regular village board trustees meeting.  John Feder was a candidate that was on the ballot and just finished his two-year term and was elected to a four-year term.  Richard Fitzgerald was a candidate on the ballot, and this will be his first four-year term serving in the trustee capacity.  Feder and Fitzgerald were the only two candidates on the ballot.   There were three open trustee positions on the April 4th ballot.

In addition to the ballot positions there were two registered write-in candidates.  Gary Kearns was the elected write-in candidate.  Kearns is a former New Athens Mayor and was appointed by Mayor Behnken to finish the previous term of a resigned board member.

We were fortunate that we had the two registered write in candidates to insure the village that we had at least enough candidates to fill the open positions.
