LEAF PICKUP SCHEDULE AND PROCEDURES

The Village of New Athens will begin the annual fall leaf vacuuming for resident's Leaves the week of November 6th, 2023, and continue until weather permits (significant Snowfall) or December 31st 2023 whichever comes first. There will be no leaves picked Up after this date. No exceptions will be made!
The Public Works department will start at 7am every Monday working on the routes marked on the map. Residents on the routes marked are asked to have their leaves raked out no later than 7am that morning. Tree limbs are not permitted.
The map shows the routes and what day they will be covered. If there is a day that a Certain route does not get covered because of bad weather that route will be done on Friday of that week.
Leaves on streets without curbing should be put in windrow on the street side of the Ditch. Please do not block the ditch with leaves, as this cause a drainage problem when It rains.
Leaves on streets with curbing should be windrowed on the backside of the curbing, to not block water draining from the street.
Leaves put in large piles, or inside residents’ yards will not be picked up. Leaves in plastic yard bags will not be emptied. There will be no leaf pickup in alleys.
The Village of New Athens provides this leaf pickup service at no cost to the Village residents. Burning of leaves is still legal under Village ordinance but discouraged during leaf pickup season.
